Downsizing couple find space they crave in a Redrow apartment

Returning to the UK after spending eight years of their retirement in Spain, John and Kathy Hulkes were keen to find somewhere to live that was easy to manage but didn’t compromise on space.

The couple knew their search was over when they stepped into a new apartment at Redrow’s Bletchley Park development, near Milton Keynes, where they found floor space more akin to a house than an apartment.

Kathy, 64, said: “Before we moved to Spain we’d previously lived in a fairly large four-bedroom home and although we were looking for somewhere easy to manage on our return, we still wanted it to feel light and spacious. We were amazed by the size of the homes at Bletchley Park. The feeling of space inside our new two-bedroom apartment is wonderful. It’s easy to maintain and keep clean and it’s very warm and cosy too.”

Location was also a key factor in the couple’s decision to move to Bletchley Park, after they made the decision to return to the UK to be closer to family and friends.

Kathy added: “We can walk into town and we’re very handy for the train station, the bus station and all the local conveniences. It was important for us to be within easy reach of everything. We do have a car but I think we could just as easily manage without one living here.”

Redrow has set out to create larger than average apartments at Bletchley Park with floor space more akin to that found in houses. There are one-bedroom designs available with 649 sq ft of living space, two-bedroom apartments with 848 sq ft to spread out in and three bedroom duplexes at 966 sq ft.

Bletchley Park is the ideal place for downsizers like John, 74, and Kathy but it’s also a great place for first time buyers to step onto the property ladder, or professionals in search of a convenient escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It offers the best of small town living, yet is just a 45 minute train ride to the heart of London from the station directly opposite the development and has easy access to the M1.

Many of the apartments are ready to move into, with prices for one and two-bedroom designs and three-bedroom duplexes, ranging from £131,950 to £168,950.
