Views sought on Clayton-le-Woods homes proposal
Local residents are invited to comment on plans for new homes in Clayton-le-Woods.
Developer Redrow Homes is holding a public consultation event at Lancaster Lane CP School in Hunters Road on Thursday, November 24, for local people to view plans of the proposed development on land to the east of Wigan Road.
The emerging Site Allocations Development Plan Document for Chorley allocates the land at Wigan Road for mixed use, which will comprise a business park and a further 300 homes. These new Redrow homes are in addition to 300 homes recently granted planning permission on land fronting Wigan Road.
Robin Buckley, senior planning manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), says: “We’re looking to submit an outline planning application for up to 150 homes, but are keen to take account of the views of local people before finalising our masterplan. Our scheme represents a second phase of housing development here and will form part of the overall mixed use development.
“Our draft masterplan shows mainly three and four-bedroom detached homes from our sought-after New Heritage Collection, plus an element of two and three bedroom semi-detached and mews style properties and some apartments.”
Robin added: “We’ll also be creating new footpaths and cycleways, plus open space for casual recreation while retaining existing wildlife habitats. Existing landscape features including an existing footpath, trees, hedgerows, ponds and ditches and would be sensitively integrated into the design.
“And it’s not just new homes we’ll be providing – we’ll also be boosting the local economy by creating new jobs.”
The public consultation event will take place from 4.30pm to 8pm on Thursday, November 24. Local residents and interested parties will have the opportunity to view plans and ask questions of Redrow staff.
