Residents at a The Glades development in Downton near Salisbury, are proving that community spirit is alive and well.

Whilst a recent survey revealed that British residents do not know their neighbours’ names, wouldn’t recognise them in the street and that community spirit is dying out*, Residents at The Glades, one of Redrow’s latest developments in Wiltshire appear to be bucking the trend.

Quickly establishing a sense of pride and inclusiveness, residents have gone to great efforts to make new homeowners feel welcome and with only four properties remaining potential buyers need to move quickly to become part of this thriving community.

Mr Peggrem, 64, who recently relocated to The Glades to enjoy his retirement with his wife Dawn, says: “There is so much going on here on a weekly basis and everyone has been so welcoming and friendly since we arrived; it’s a small, close-knit development with a good mix of like-minded people and a real sense of community spirit.”

He goes on to say: “To date, we’ve already enjoyed a street party and cooking fair in the summer, and there are regular coffee and cake baking mornings where the neighbours take the opportunity to catch up and get to know one another. A regular walking group has formed to enjoy long strolls on Sundays and there are plenty of other activities which everyone always gets together for.”
An idyllic family life within close proximity to the peace, tranquillity and natural beauty of the New Forest National Park in one of the luxury properties could be yours from £429,995 for a four-bedroom home.

The Boswell family moved from a smaller, four-bedroom home in Alderholt, to an executive five-bedroom detached family home. Training manager, Steve Boswell, 37, said: “There’s so much space and we love the layout, which includes a large open-plan kitchen, dining and family room. The kids have a whole floor to themselves with two double bedrooms and a bathroom, great for when they are teenagers.

The homes at The Glades also benefit from a number of eco-features, helping them to achieve level three of the Code for Sustainable Homes; including solar panels, low-energy light fittings and water butts. Redrow homes are on average 40% more energy efficient than homes built pre-2002, and 70% more energy efficient than homes built prior to 1990, and saves you up to £556 a year on household bills**.
