In a bid to offer an even wider choice of cruise products Titan Travel has released a brand new ‘Classic Cruise Collection’ offering all the itineraries on the SAGA RUBY, as well as all itineraries on the new SAGA SAPPHIRE, that is due to launch in March 2012.

The Saga Ruby was the last ship to be built in Britain and takes no more than 661 passengers over nine passenger decks, making her a very comfortable ship for long distance cruising. The style of the vessel evokes the golden age of cruising with a wraparound teak promenade deck, a traditional 200-seater cinema, sumptuous dining in a choice of restaurants, with complimentary afternoon tea, a programme of lectures and a different show every evening. The beautifully appointed suites come complete with butler service and the top grade duplex suites also feature a private balcony, hot tub, exercise equipment and a bar.

The choice of cruise itineraries range from the Med, North Africa and the Canaries to the Baltic, a British Isles cruise (to see the Edinburgh Tattoo) and a 15 day ‘mystery’ cruise.

The 17-day cruise ‘North African Wonders’ is a great introduction to the coast of south west Europe and north Africa sailing from Southampton all the way to Algiers with stops along the way on the Spanish, Portuguese and Moroccan coast and includes a very special event in Lisbon on 3rd May when the Saga Ruby will be joined by the Saga Sapphire and Saga Pearl II. This is the first and only time that all three ships will be together and to mark the occasion passengers will be treated to a private concert at the famed Coliseu dos Recreios where soprano, Lesley Garrett, will be a special guest and this will be followed by a spectacular fireworks display. The cruise departs on 30th April 2012 and costs from £1,730 per person including accommodation and meals on a full board basis plus Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service. Optional excursions are at an additional cost.

The choice of Mediterranean cruises departing from Southampton range from a 16-day ‘Highlights’ cruise or a 19-day ‘Gems’ cruise in October 2012 to a comprehensive 26-day ‘Mediterranean Secrets’ cruise. Departing on 16 May this takes passengers on a round voyage from Southampton all the way to Kusadasi and Marmaris in Turkey, stopping in a variety of ports along the way in Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece with prices that start from £2,731 per person. There’s also the option to experience a similar itinerary and spend Christmas afloat with a 25-day ‘Mediterranean Christmas’ cruise departing on 14 December, which costs from £2,770 per person.

For the ultimate cruise experience the Saga Ruby sets sail in January 2013 on a mammoth 110-day round the world cruise but for those who can’t spare this amount of time there is the option to jump aboard at various points along the way for some slightly shorter legs ranging from 22 nights to 89 nights.

Joining the fleet in May 2012 the SAGA SAPPHIRE is a slightly bigger vessel weighing 37,301 tons and accommodating up to 706 passengers over 10 passenger decks with 415 officers and crew.

Itineraries include a number of Scandinavian adventures such as the 16 day ’Wonders of the Northern Lights’ departing on 25th February 2013 travelling from Southampton to Alta in northern Norway in search of the fabled Northern Lights. There’s also time for a number of optional excursions such as dog sledding and the opportunity to spend a night at the Alta Igloo Hotel. The cruise costs from £2,293 per person.

Later in the year the Saga Sapphire visits the Canaries and North Africa on a 16-day island hopping cruise from Southampton, taking in picturesque Madeira before stops in Las Palmas Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote and a taste of Morocco with the beach resort of Agadir and a stop in Casablanca. The cruise costs from £1,366 per person departing on 2 November 2012. A similar 20 day cruise itinerary travels over Christmas spending Christmas Day at sea between Agadir and Lanzarote and New Year’s Day stepping ashore in Funchal, Madeira. This cruise costs from £2,033 per person.

Closer to home the Saga Sapphire circumnavigates the British Isles and Ireland on a couple of cruise itineraries. Either at the end of June with a 14 day cruise from Dover via southern Ireland and up as far as Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands, which costs from £1,406 per person. Or alternatively on a 7 day ‘Around Britain’ cruise to explore some of this county’s more remote wonders such as South Stack, a tiny islet on the north–west coast of Anglesey which is known for its 200 year old picture postcard lighthouse perched on a rocky crag. The cruise leads in at £574 per person.
