Japanese culinary coup

Masterchef Winner and Japanophile, Tim Anderson teams up with InsideJapan Tours to create a new food and travel experience.

Any trip to Japan is a culinary adventure and InsideJapan Tours' new one-off 13-night Japanese Cookery tour, led by expert guide Liam Chawdhary and Masterchef 2011 winner Tim Anderson, will not disappoint.

In addition to an exploration of cultural landmarks, this tasty tour - with stays in cities, the mountains and on the coast - encourages participants to eat their way across the islands of Honshu and Kyushu, and provides the opportunity to glean a few of the secrets of Tim Anderson's success.

Tim says: "I lived in Japan for two years and since then I've been inspired to share my passion for the country's culture and cuisine - and this trip is the perfect way to do just that. I'm very excited at the prospect of holding three private cooking lessons for participants during the tour and, most of all, of travelling with people who have a shared interest in Japan."

The Japanese Cookery gastronomic experiences include a Michelin-starred restaurant in Tokyo, traditional 'kaiseki' (fine dining) in Kyoto, simple street food in Fukuoka, 'okonomiyaki' (Japanese-style pancakes) in Osaka and delicious ramen noodles in Yokohama; hands-on elements include sushi-making and cooking lessons with Tim. Visits to Kyoto's Golden Pavilion Temple, ancient gardens in Tokyo and a knife-forging museum in Takefu, the serene and sacred island of Miyajima, Mount Aso on Kyushu, plus the castle-town of Kumamoto, complete this fascinating exploration of Japanese culture.

The 13-night Japanese Cookery tour departs on 8 November 2012, timed to coincide with the glorious explosion of fiery hues as the autumn leaves change colour across the country, yet temperatures are still above 20°C. The tour costs from £4,900 pp (based on two sharing), excluding flights, which can be booked by InsideJapan Tours.

Tim will be doing a presentation in the 'Taste the world' area of the Destinations Travel Show at London's Earls Court on Friday 3rd February.
