Move quickly to avoid stamp duty

First time buyers who move quickly will save thousands of pounds by buying a new home before the Government ends the stamp duty holiday in March. Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties have properties available at its The Glaciers in Basingstoke which will remain exempt from stamp duty if purchased before 25th March.
The Government announced that it was removing the payment of stamp duty for two years for first time buyers on properties up to £250,000 in its 2010 budget, but confirmed at the end of the last year that this would not be extended further.
Sarah Pasco, regional sales director, comments: “There is still time for first time buyers to complete the purchase of a new home before the changes come into effect and therefore save up to £2,500. That’s quite a saving at a time when every penny counts. If you are in a position to buy your first home, then speak to one of our experienced consultants at The Glaciers who can guide you through the process and ensure that everything is completed before the deadline.”
Currently available under the stamp duty threshold at The Glaciers are a range three bedroom homes with prices starting from just £195,000.
And for house buyers looking to get onto the property ladder but finding it a struggle, Taylor Wimpey’s FirstBuy scheme could make their dreams of home ownership a reality.
FirstBuy works through a joint loan of 20% from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Taylor Wimpey, which means that eligible purchasers only need put down a 5% deposit and obtain a 75% loan-to-value mortgage. The loan is repayable at the end of the mortgage term or when the property is sold. To be eligible, purchasers must be first time buyers and the total household earning should be less than £60,000.
