Through its wholly-owned site in Bolton, Amir’s home town, Kia is helping the hugely popular young boxer establish a new gym focused on building stronger community ties.

The Gloves Gym will also be Amir’s training camp as he moves from light welterweight to lightweight and begins his challenge on the WBO crown and Kia Bolton will be title sponsor of the club to further strengthen ties between Amir and Kia and the surrounding community.

Alex Purdie, Principal of Kia Bolton said: “We have enjoyed a very positive relationship with Amir since the Olympics and he and his team currently use a Sedona as a part of their training and transport strategy.

“When Amir asked us to become involved in his Gloves Gym, which will provide a variety of involving and stimulating projects for young people to develop their full potential I didn’t hesitate.”

Amir commented: “It is very easy for kids to get sucked into the negative side of street life but with Kia’s help I want to give youngsters from my home town the chance to develop their character and self-esteem by aiming for new goals and making new friends in a safe environment.

“Alex and Kia have been great supporters over recent years and I am delighted they have seen the potential for Gloves to make a big difference to young people’s lives – the Sedona has certainly made a big difference to our professional lives since it has been a part of Team Khan!” he added.
