Kia dealers offering free tyre safety checks

5th October 2007 Print
The UK’s 150 Kia dealers are throwing their weight behind Tyre Safety Month which started this week. The Korean car manufacturer’s dealers are offering motorists the opportunity of having a free tyre safety and pressure check when they visit their premises during the month of October.

“Kia is a firm supporter of road safety initiatives”, said Emma Horne the company’s after sales marketing manager, “and the TyreSafe intiative allows us to involve our dealers in an important and worthwhile safety campaign. Tyres are a critical safety component and we think it is vital to raise the levels of awareness of tyre safety with our customers.”

The TyreSafe national campaign, the first organised by the tyre industry, is designed to highlight the dangers posed by driving a vehicle on defective or under-inflated tyres. TyreSafe research has shown that almost three quarters of cars on the country’s road have tyres that are under-inflated. A vehicle’s handling can be compromised by severely under-inflated tyres leading to a potential accident. Car tyres with incorrect pressure are also hitting motorists in the wallet by using more fuel as well as damaging the environment by pumping more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Motorists not able to visit a Kia dealer to take advantage of the free pressure checks can check the inflation pressures for their particular vehicle by logging on to the TyreSafe website tyresafe.org, type in the vehicle registration number and the correct pressure will be displayed on screen.
