Thetford, Norfolk-based, waste management and recycling specialist Pearsons is achieving a fleet average fuel economy of 11 mpg since standardising on Volvo for its fleet of 17 skip-trucks says Managing Director Jo Pearson. “The fuel economy of the Volvo’s is superb. Standardising on Volvo has given us a level playing field on which to measure fuel usage accurately and we are now meeting our target of 11 mpg.” To help their drivers achieve company fuel usage targets, Pearsons’ used the Driver Development services provided to customers by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia.

Team Cadillac produced a championship-calibre performance in the ninth round of the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT at Road Atlanta on September 30. Andy Pilgrim scored nine valuable points in the manufacturers’ championship with his first victory since joining Team Cadillac. Team mate Ron Fellows finished third in his Cadillac CTS-V after a wild finish that saw the Canadian racer with four tyres on the grass in the last turn. As a result, Cadillac has gained critical ground in the SPEED GT manufacturers’ championship, in joint second place and just five points behind the leader. Pilgrim has also moved to second place in the drivers’ standings.

Caparo Vehicle Technologies, a brand new company formed earlier this year, has completed the build of the first of two Caparo T1 prototypes. As part of a multi-agency programme, Her Majesty’s Courts Service (HMCS) has just ordered 21 specially modified Citroen Dispatch 2.0HDi Combi 6 vehicles, capable of carrying a number of Court Enforcement Officers, together with up to two offenders in a secure cell unit. Citroen and Kinetic Special Vehicles Ltd have worked closely with HMCS to develop the specification for these vehicles, which are also fitted with air conditioning.

Sortimo International Limited has shown complete confidence in their in-vehicle racking equipment by performing two live crash tests at TRL, Berkshire.
