The new MINI: world premiere in Paris
The new MINI receives its world debut today at the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris, Europe’s biggest motor show of the year. The global unveiling previews the new MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S, which go on sale in the UK on Saturday 18 November 2006. The all-new MINI features a completely new body design, a striking modern interior and brand new performance engines with lower fuel consumption and significantly reduced emissions.

Strong Mercedes-Benz presence at Paris Motor Show
Mercedes-Benz is presenting a wide variety of new products and technical innovations at this year’s Paris Motor Show, where exclusive high-performance models such as the CL 63 AMG and S 63 AMG or the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition super sports car are celebrating their world debut. The new edition of the CL-Class also has its first public appearance under the motto “Masterly luxury Coupé”. With the anniversary showcar SLK “Edition 10”, Mercedes-Benz is celebrating the tenth birthday of the world’s most successful roadster. Other highlights include the newly developed permanent four-wheel drive 4MATIC, which has its debut in the S-Class. In the S 320 CDI 4MATIC, Mercedes-Benz is also offering a combination of a diesel engine and four-wheel drive for the first time in the S-Class. In addition, standard production versions of the E-Class will be presented for a most unusual endurance test: a total of 33 models will take the starting line here in Paris on October 21. Following the traces of the first transcontinental car race held in 1907, the 13,600-kilometre route from Paris to Beijing passes through stretches of difficult terrain.

The Audi 1.8 TFSI
Audi is supplying yet further evidence of its leading position as an engine manufacturer by unveiling an entirely new high-tech four-cylinder engine: the 1.8 TFSI signals the market debut of a new family of engines and combines the evolution of the TFSI concept with an entirely new basic engine. The TFSI concept brings together the advantages of petrol direct injection and turbocharging. This innovative technology paves the way for superior road performance and greater dynamism on less fuel and with reduced emissions. The new engine is putting in its first appearance in the Audi A3. With its output of 118 kW (160 bhp) and high peak torque of 250 Nm, it constitutes a powerful basis for sporty driving pleasure.
New 2.8 FSI with Audi valvelift system
Audi is forging ahead with the expansion of its range of engines. Towards the end of the year, a new 2.8-litre petrol engine will be appearing in the A6; it develops 154 kW (210 bhp) and 280 Nm of torque, available constantly from 3,000 to 5,000 rpm. As well as FSI petrol direct injection, the V6 thus for the first time features a highly efficient but astonishingly simple valve control technology – the innovative Audi valvelift system. What this means for Audi drivers is even more driving fun, on appreciably less fuel.
