Ryanair has announced that passengers can book tickets for same day travel on ryanair.com up to 6 hours before the scheduled departure time of all flights.

IATA published its 2008 traffic figures, which show Ryanair overtaking Lufthansa in terms of passenger numbers. This year Ryanair expects to grow from 58m to over 67m passengers. To celebrate, Ryanair has released 1 million £5 seats for travel in September and October.

11 new Ryanair routes take off at Bristol

Ryanair crew and check in staff at Bristol International teamed up last week (3 July) to launch eleven new routes from the airport. Bristol-based Charlotte Oliver, star of Ryanair’s charity calendar for 2009, led the way as the team lined up alongside one of two new Boeing 737-800s (joining two similar aircraft already based at Bristol International).

Ryanair carries record 60 million passengers

Ryanair has announced that its June traffic increased by 13% to 5.8 million passengers, a new monthly record, smashing the 5.7 million passenger record set in August 2008. Ryanair also carried over 60 million passengers in the 12 months to the end of June – a new annual traffic record.

Ryanair announces new base at Porto

Ryanair has announced it will open its 33rd base at Porto (Northern Portugal) with two based aircraft and four new routes (16 in total). Ryanair will offer 50 daily return flights to/from Porto in an investment worth over $140 million.

Ryanair freezes growth at 9 UK bases

Ryanair today confirmed that it will freeze growth at its nine UK bases with immediate effect. Ryanair claims that Gordon Brown’s £10 tourist tax, combined with the BAA Monopoly’s high airport charges have caused the loss of over 4.5 million passengers at the BAA UK airports in the first five months of the year.
