Iceland Express

Two of Iceland’s biggest music stars, Bjork and Sigur Rós, are to play together at a free, outdoor concert in Reykjavík on 28 June 2008. The concert will be held to raise awareness of environmental issues in Iceland. Iceland Express, Iceland’s low-fare airline, is celebrating the event by offering British music lovers lower priced fares on flights between the UK and Iceland in the days leading up to and following the concert.

Airline Iceland Express will from June 1st provide its passengers more choice of food onboard with healthier meals added to the menu. The selection will consist of pasta and salad meals, fruit salad, pizzas and sandwiches.

Iceland Express have announced that they will commence flying five times per week between London Gatwick and Reykjavik from 16th September, 2008. This is in addition to a winter flying programme which includes a daily service between London Stansted and Reykjavik.

Budget airline Iceland Express celebrated its fifth anniversary on February 27. On that day in 2003 the inaugural flight from Keflavík to Copenhagen and London was airborne, starting an active competition between international carriers in Iceland that travellers welcomed with open arms. The number of passengers has increased every year, as well as destinations.

Iceland Express has today announced that it will add extra flights on the London Stansted to Kefalavik route, starting on 26 February 2008. From that date this dynamic, young airline will operate 11 flights per week on this route, an increase of two flights a week on the summer programme.

The airline Iceland Express has changed its corporate identity and will from now on use orange as its main colour and has introduced the slogan “We fly to please”. The airline, which has been in operation for nearly five years, now flies between Iceland and 15 different destinations in Europe, including daily to London Stansted.

Iceland Express has been awarded the inaugural Best Website Award at the recent World Low Cost Airline Awards ceremony hosted by Terrapin during the Worlds Low Cost Airline Congress 2007. Iceland Express is Iceland's only low fare carrier.
Low-cost airline, Iceland Express has applied for permission to construct a new airport close to the city centre of the capital, Reykjavik. The application, submitted to Reykjavik city council is for a new 6500 square metre airport and includes its use for both domestic and international flights.

To accentuate the message that Iceland is less than three hours flying time from Stansted, until September, Iceland Express has made special arrangements for every one of their passengers to have complimentary Fast Track passes at Stansted, enabling them to go straight through security after check-in.
Iceland Express have a limited availability offer on all flights between Stansted and Reykjavik during the month of May. For Bookings made between midday on the 25th April and miday on the 27th April, passengers booking through Icelandexpress.co.uk will be able to buy one way tickets at an incredible £23.00 plus taxes for travel during the month of May, subject to availability.

The little airline that changed the habits of a nation is now four years old. On the 27th February the first and only Icelandic Low Fare airline, Iceland Express, will celebrate its fourth anniversary.
