BBC Radio 2 has announced that Sir Tom Jones will join the line-up for this year’s Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park on Sunday, September 9.

Sir Tom Jones has one of the UK's most recognisable voices and is loved by millions, having enjoyed phenomenal chart success for almost 50 years with hits including It's Not Unusual, Delilah and Mama Told Me Not To Come. More recently he has triumphed as a judge on the BBC One show The Voice UK with his artist Leanne Mitchell winning the public vote.

Jeff Smith, Head of Music BBC Radio 2, said: "We are thrilled that Tom Jones is going to be joining us in Hyde Park on September 9. The concert will be a fantastic musical celebration and it promises to be an event to remember.

“Music is at the heart of Radio 2's output and to have Sir Tom added to an already remarkable line-up guarantees that Radio 2 Live In Hyde Park is going to be an amazing day and a wonderful celebration of music."

Artists already confirmed are The Voice UK judge Jessie J, British rockers Status Quo, Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall, London songstress Paloma Faith, Scottish funksters Average White Band and hot new talent Emeli Sandé. Also confirmed to perform are American country music stars The Band Perry, American singer-songwriter Norah Jones and Norwegian band Katzenjammer.

Last year, over 25,000 music fans packed into Hyde Park for Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park, a star-studded concert featuring live performances from Gary Barlow, Lenny Kravitz, James Blunt, Beverley Knight, Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and Caro Emerald amongst others.

The concert will be broadcast on Radio 2. And for seven days after the event, listeners will be able to hear highlights from the concert across the station's daytime shows and the Radio 2 website will feature exclusive backstage footage and interviews from the event.
