Fish Market brings a taste of the seaside to London’s Square Mile

This summer, visitors can enjoy a taste of the British seaside on the outdoor terrace at Fish Market, when it launches its beach inspired menu on May 1st. Providing a welcome respite from the confines of the Square Mile’s offices, the sun-filled terrace at Fish Market can seat up to 40 guests. Here a special seaside inspired menu, compiled by head chef Barry Macmillan, will be served from the crustacea bar.
Menu highlights include Smoked haddock Scotch egg, Fish finger sandwich with tartare sauce, Jelly and ice cream, Knickerbocker glories and nostalgic flavoured sundaes including Banoffee, Strawberry and Chocolate. For those in a rush, simply pick up a portion of takeaway fish goujons and chips to eat on the move.
Guests can also book a table for friends and colleagues and soak up the sunshine over a few light bites and a glass of Champagne or one of the many wines among the 80 bins on offer. Fish Market’s quality wine list, which focuses on white wine in particular, provides guests with a choice of classic English wines and those from around the globe including South Africa, Chile and Australia. All producers have been carefully selected for the gastronomic or convivial character and are a perfect complement to the delectable ‘beach inspired’ menu on offer.
Fish Market is a relaxed venue for guests to enjoy a taste of the freshest fish and shellfish sourced directly from the British Isles. Located inside The Old Bengal Warehouse, the city’s oldest surviving warehouse, it was originally built by the East India Company between 1768 and 1771 to store spices, tea, cigars and port, and was immortalised in a poem by John Masefield that described it as holding "the wealth of the world and London's power."
So this summer, head to Fish Market’s outdoor summer terrace - the ideal retreat for Londoners on a summer afternoon or balmy evening, with a playful nod to our sandy shores.
