Expensive European addresses: Mallorca, Marbella and Barcelona

Areas of Mallorca, Marbella and Barcelona are featured in the Engel & Völkers International Group study 2013, based on the most expensive addresses worldwide from their annual study of data of over 490 shops in 36 countries on 5 continents. The survey focuses on exceptional locations and outstanding, exclusive properties in each country.
In Spain, where Engel & Völkers has 50 shops, Mallorca comes in at 12th place worldwide in this year’s study with purchase prices of up to 23,500 Euros per square metre for a seafront villa overlooking Cala Marmacen in the Port Andratx area, which is considered one of the island’s most fashionable property hot spots attracting a cosmopolitan range of international buyers.
In 13th place Marbella enters the study for the first time for top property in the Santa Margarita residential area located between Marbella and Puerto Banus achieving prices of up to 20,000 Euros per square metre.
Barcelona draws joint 15th place with Berlin for property in the Paseo de Gràcia, one of the Barcelona’s most sought after boulevards famous for designer shopping, where prices of up to 15,000 Euros per square metre are recorded.
Says David Scheffler, General Director for Engel & Völkers Spain; “Since last year, we have seen increased demand by big buyers for top end property especially for seafront villas, penthouses with spectacular views and private estates. Exclusive homes in the most sought after locations listed remain in limited supply and therefore are extremely resilient to any price adjustment; on the contrary, they appear to achieve record prices”.
The Engel & Völkers study names the top three most expensive addresses as: The Bay of Romazzino overlooking Port Cervo in Sardinia (300,000 Euros per m2) followed by Monaco in the Avenue d’Ostende overlooking the famous marina (100,000 Euros per m2) and London comes in at third place for property in Knightsbridge (93,000 Euros per m2).
