Red Pocket Restaurant launches in Battersea

This summer a touch of Chinese sophistication arrives in Battersea in the form of Red Pocket Restaurant at Hotel Verta by Rhombus. Located minutes from Chelsea and Sloane Square, Red Pocket will combine a chic and contemporary décor with a warm and exotic atmosphere that people will travel from near and far to visit.

Red Pocket will be located on the riverside, a stone’s throw from on The London Heliport and in the elegant surroundings of the boutique Hotel Verta. Offering stunning panoramic views of the river, large floor-to-ceiling windows will flood the space with natural light. From the moment they arrive, guests will be transported to an Oriental oasis decorated in gold, red and black tones. Design features will include, Chinese artwork, chinoiserie screens and authentic artefacts such as Buddha sculptures and Tibetan cabinets. The large open kitchen will lend an air of theatre to the restaurant, with diners looking on as the skillful culinary team prepare dishes that fuse Western ingredients with classic Chinese recipes and cooking techniques.

Restaurant Operations Manager and talented chef, Weng Kong Wong, has spent the last 20 years acquiring and honing his knowledge and expertise of Chinese cuisine. He has worked in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and, most recently, at London’s celebrated Hakkasan restaurant. Weng has teamed up with the award-winning Chef Kee Hock Teoh, nicknamed “Magic Chef KK” and together they will skilfully blend the finest European ingredients with Eastern cooking techniques. Signature dishes will include; Braised Imperial Chicken, Roast Peking Duck served with Caviar, Lobster with Foie Gras Sauce, Lo Hei Salad, Grilled Beef Fillet Genghis Khan Style and a diverse range of Dim Sum including the Steamed Mixed Xiao Long Bao in seven flavours with Corn Fed Chicken and Blue Swimmer Crab Meat. Red Pocket will also serve a selection of tasting menus, taking diners on a true culinary journey to the Orient.

Red Pocket will offer the perfect range of innovative cocktails that cannot fail to delight with signature drinks including; Dragon, a potent mix of Patron Tequila, Triple Sec, Dragon Fruit, Pineapple, Lime and Ginger Syrup, the Mango Spice Martini, a zingy blend of Grey Goose Vodka, Fresh Mango, Mango Liqueur, Agave Syrup and Jalapeno Peppers, the Chinese Pear Mojito, a refreshing combination of Bacardi Rum, Mint, Fresh Chinese Pear Juice and Lemon Juice. The restaurant also serves a diverse and rare selection of green, red and white Chinese tea to complement the cuisine served, as well as offering an extensive range of international wines and Chinese spirits such as whisky and sake.
