Engel & Völkers New Metropolitan Market Centre in Barcelona

The Engel & Völkers Group has opened its first Metropolitan Market Centre (MMC) in the centre of Barcelona on the Avenida Diagonal, considered one of the most important areas in the Catalan capital. The MMC covers some 700 m2 and will be manned with up to 150 sales advisors dedicated to the selling of premium residential property and commercial real estate.

E&V has successfully built its international network of shops which CEO, Christian Völkers launched in 1995. The MMC concept offers a licence for an entire geographical city area which effectively means that the transactional volume is equivalent to between 10-20 E&V traditional shops/offices.

In addition to the MMC concept, it is planned to open three “Property Lounges” in strategic points of the city such as the Paseo de Gracia, to serve as initial points of contact for potential clients and to increase brand awareness. This first MMC is a direct investment for Christian Völkers’ and is owned by the holding company, Engel & Völkers AG, to ensure the launch and successful implementation of this new expansion concept.

Says Christian Völkers; “We plan to open Metropolitan Market Centres in key cities such as London, New York, Istanbul, New Delhi, Hong Kong, Dubai, Sydney and Moscow where we are witnessing enormous population growth and consequently a greater demand for property. Furthermore, high end properties in these growth markets are a desirable form of investment for global investors and the E&V international network can now offer those clients personalised support in their search for investment opportunities worldwide”.

E&V Reports Strong Growth in First Half 2013

The launch of the MMC comes at a time when E&V has released their first half year figures reporting an increase of 18.8% in worldwide Group commission revenues that total 123.9 M Euros. Strong growth has been recorded in North & South American and in Southern Europe where residential property shops have also benefited from a further recovery of the property markets.

On the Spanish Mainland where E&V has 54 shops, there was an overall revenue growth of 65% in the first half year of 2013. In Mallorca where E&V has 16 shops there was strong growth rate and total revenue grew by 29% in the first 6 months with five major sales ranging from 7 – 10 M Euros in Puerto Andratx and Palma.
