Vietnam Airlines has launched a new daily route from Siem Reap in Cambodia - home of the Angkor Temples - to Danang in Central Vietnam - gateway to the UNESCO protected town of Hoi An; the flight will take two hours twenty-five minutes.

Comments Robin Ball, Director of Asia specialist Bamboo Travel: “Danang city is the main gateway to reach the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hoi An – an ancient town which offers an ideal mix of history, culture, shopping and restaurants in the atmospheric streets, with the option of spending time relaxing on the nearby beach.

“Siem Reap is also a UNESCO World's Heritage Site with its famous Angkor Temple complex. With this new flight, it will be a perfect option for travellers who wish to combine a trip to two of the world’s most unique attractions whilst making the best possible use of time available.”

One of Bamboo Travel’s recommended itineraries that takes advantage of the new flight is the 15-night Splendours of Indochina.

After soaking up the atmosphere of the UNESCO protected town of Luang Prabang, the tour includes an exciting loop on the waterways of northern Laos, travelling by private boat and staying in charming riverside lodges.

The next leg is Siem Reap in Cambodia to explore the temples of Angkor, followed by the ancient port of Hoi An in Vietnam – making use of the new Vietnam Airlines flight – and the Imperial capital of Hue.

The trip ends with an overnight stay deep in the Mekong Delta, before finishing in the historic city of Saigon including a private tour and a visit to the floating market of Cai Rang and the former Presidential Palace.

The trip costs from £3,195 per person (two sharing) which includes return international flights, 15 nights' B&B accommodation (plus two lunches and two dinners), road transfers, boat journeys and tours on a private basis and English speaking guides and drivers.
