Homes for the living room TV comeback

According to a new study by communications regulator Ofcom, thanks to the rise of connected devices such as smartphones and tablets, UK families are now more likely to watch TV together than they have been in over a decade. Over half of the 3,700 over 16’s interviewed found most family members now multi-task whilst in front of the TV by talking or texting on the phone, using social networks or even watching different content altogether. As the room with the largest TV in the house, this trend is leading to the rise in the use of the living room, with families brought together just as they were in the 1950’s when a TV was likely to be a home’s only screen.
With extensive living rooms that are ideal for families who enjoy watching TV together whilst interacting on tablets and smartphones, the properties at Horsted Park in Chatham by Countryside Properties are perfect for modern family life.
Tony Travers, Managing Director of Countryside Properties’ Homes and Communities division comments: “Technology is playing an increasingly important role in family life, with one in three parents encouraging their children to use a tablet for school or college work.
