Scotland’s largest city gets ready to rock, as the iconic Hard Rock Cafe makes its way to Glasgow. Hard Rock International has announced plans for its newest cafe location in the heart of Scotland’s exciting city of Glasgow. The multi-level Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will be ideally situated on Buchanan Street in the heart of the city’s historic Style-Mile, and will undoubtedly be a must-see for both visitors and locals. The new cafe, which is set to open in November 2013, will join the popular Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh as Scotland’s second Hard Rock location.

Blending the city’s historic feel with the energy and vibe of the Hard Rock brand, Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will be housed at 179 Buchanan Street in the restored, renaissance-inspired, 1891 Athenaeum Theatre.  The new cafe will employ more than 80 people from the area and will have more than 9,000 square-feet of space, including spacious seating for 170 guests, a live music area for weekly events, a late night bar and a merchandise-filled Rock Shop. Additionally, the cafe will have the ability to be used for unique private celebrations and memorable event functions to accommodate Glasgow’s growing conference market.

Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will pay homage to the city’s reputation of being at the forefront of contemporary style and trends with upscale design features and innovative technology that will be featured throughout the cafe’s indoor and outdoor dining areas. The new location will be complete with the Rock Wall™ Solo, an interactive touch wall with technology that enables fans to explore the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia collection and virtually tour the company’s venues around the world. In addition, memorabilia from Hard Rock’s iconic collection will adorn the walls of Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow, including: a green two-piece suit worn by The Who’s Pete Townshend in the 1975 film ‘Tommy’, the burgundy velvet school boy outfit worn by Angus Young of AC/DC, an artist paint palette used by the Scottish-born ‘fifth Beatle’, Stuart Sutcliffe when at the Liverpool College of Art, the Epiphone Firebird guitar covered in mirrored tiles that Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall used in her ‘Hold On’ video, a sports tie worn by Eric Clapton, and many more.

“As a proud native of Scotland, I couldn’t be more pleased that our world-famous Hard Rock brand will be calling Glasgow home,” said Hamish Dodds, President and CEO, Hard Rock International. “Glasgow is a truly amazing city with a long history, vibrant culture, rich heritage and of course, wonderful people.  We’re confident that Hard Rock will be a perfect addition to this beautiful city.”

“Hard Rock is excited to expand our European portfolio to include this unique location in Glasgow, a key market for our brand,” said David Pellow, European Vice President of Operations, Hard Rock International. “Glasgow is a superb musical hub within Scotland, and we look forward to serving Glasgow’s residents and visitors with a one-of-a-kind entertainment package, while establishing Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow as a must-visit dining and bar destination within the city.”

Guests of Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will be able to enjoy fresh, high-quality items from Hard Rock’s scratch-based menu, including a mouth-watering selection of 10-ounce Legendary Burgers. Additionally, Hard Rock’s Smokehouse Menu uses the very best Hickory wood chips to slowly cook its ribs, chicken and pork to juicy, tender perfection. In addition to its food, Hard Rock Cafe’s extensive, award-winning drinks menu includes Hurricanes, Margaritas, signature favorites and Alternative Rock (alcohol-free) beverages, all available in Hard Rock souvenir collectible glassware. Hard Rock’s cocktails are handcrafted, just like its cuisine, and as authentic as the memorabilia on the walls.

The Glasgow cafe’s Rock Shop will offer rock ‘n’ roll-inspired items, as well as collectible Hard Rock Cafe merchandise in its exclusive retail location.  This Glasgow-specific merchandise can only be purchased at this location, which offers an exclusive design quality that enhances each item’s appeal.  Fans can also acquire Hard Rock’s much-coveted signature pins.

Since it was established in 1971, Hard Rock has been committed to a wide variety of philanthropic causes and activities around the world, and Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will carry this causal commitment to its market. In every Hard Rock city, the staff makes it a priority to become a valuable community partner. In the form of funds, food and beverage, merchandise and man hours, Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will give back locally, as well as participate in global corporate philanthropic initiatives, ranging from breast cancer awareness programs, to rock icons’ favorite causes through the annual Signature Series T-shirt programme.
