Tortilla Mexican Grill to open seven more sites across the UK

Tortilla Mexican Grill, the largest fast-casual Mexican restaurant operator in the UK, have announced another seven sites, with the first four to be launched before the end of this year. An additional two sites are due to open early next year, with launches in January and February, with the final site launching in October 2014.

Sites have been secured both in and out of London, including Land Securities’ Trinity Kitchen development, Richmond directly across from the station, Birmingham’s Grand Central shopping centre, and in Clapham. These additional sites will bring the total number of operating restaurants to 18. The company is also in advanced legals on three more sites which are expected to be confirmed over the coming days.

Tortilla Mexican Grill serves up a classic Mexican menu, including burritos and tacos with a range of authentic fillings and toppings such as carnitas, barbacoa, grilled chicken and grilled steak. The focus is on fast, affordable, great quality Mexican food that delivers both on taste and convenience.

Tortilla have gone from strength to strength, with store sales and operating profit figures in 2012 up 76% on 2011 numbers. They have also announced that they have begun operating their first concessions site, located in the staff dining area of a leading investment bank in Canary Wharf.  Founder and MD Brandon Stephens said he is “very pleased with the strong store performance and pipeline that the team have generated” and feels he has the right financing and organisational structure in place for further growth.

In Zagat’s 2012 awards Tortilla won Best Mexican Restaurant and was named a Best Buy.
