The first domestic aircraft bearing Air New Zealand's distinctive New Zealand Fern Mark livery took to New Zealand skies this week, giving global plane-spotters a sneak peak of what the airline's international fleet will look like.

The new white livery features a black tail with the distinctive New Zealand Fern Mark in contrasting white. While most of the fleet will sport this white version of the livery the airline will also continue to have a small number of signature aircraft in an all black version.

The new livery will be progressively rolled out across Air New Zealand's domestic and international aircraft, including the Boeing 777-300 (London and Los Angeles route), the 777-200 and the fleet of 10 new 787-9 aircraft it currently has on order.

In a creative twist, Air New Zealand is offering fans of the new livery the chance to win a scale model of the new look aircraft (Airbus A320) by creating a paper plane version using the template from theflyingsocialnetwork.com, and sharing a picture of their creation on Instagram or Twitter using #AirNZPaperPlane.
