From Lobster Pizza to Bubble Bread, from Spaghettata to Black Tagliolini, the menu at London restaurant group Spaghetti House has been shaken up with a fair few surprises to make you want live to eat rather than just eat to live. New regional dishes include Battilardo d’Affettati at £10.95, perfect for grazing or sharing. This olive wood plank with a handle found in most Italian homes and originally used to flatten meat, here is piled high with a selection of Parma Ham, spicy sopressata salame, marinated artichokes and the crispy Sicilian Nocellara del Belice olives. The dish comes with tasty Bubble Bread, freshly baked pizza dough which rises in the form of a bubble.

New is also a dish of Black Tagliolini all’Aragosta – delicious squid ink egg pasta with lobster, white wine and San Marzano tomatoes, fired up by a touch of  garlic, chilli and parsley, at £18.95. Large tables will love Spaghettata, a tegamino (family pot) of Spaghetti with a sauce at choice, served the Italian family way, in the middle of the table, for you to help yourself. At £18.95 per bowl, it’s big enough to satisfy the hearty appetite of two people, or can be shared with more.

But it’s arguably the new stone-baked Pizza with Lobster, chilli and wild rocket which is causing a stir. ‘Restaurants have always developed reputations based on word of mouth’ says Chris O’Neill, the group’s executive chef. ‘And word of mouth is travelling fast when it comes to our new Pizza with Lobster, guests can’t get enough and are coming back for more’. Made with the finest ‘00’ grade Italian wheat flour and with the best lobster sourced according to the season, at  £16.95 this is a not-to-be-missed dish on the Autumn menu at Spaghetti House.

‘Several of our new dishes also feature fregola, the speciality pasta from Sardinia, formed into tiny balls similar to cous-cous’ Chris continues. ‘We slightly toast it to intensify the flavour and we lift it with lemon for a different taste. It’s fantastic with seabass’.
