Have you got an ugly mug?

Customers at Bagel Nash in Nottingham are being asked to help the store build its very own ‘Great Wall of China’.

Bosses at the coffee and bagel shop on Wheeler Gate, are urging customers to raid their cupboards and find their unloved, old ugly mugs and take them into the store between Monday 2 June and Sunday 15 June.

If customers donate their ugly mug, staff at Bagel Nash will swap it for a beautiful new cup of freshly brewed coffee for free and they’ll add all the mugs to their ‘Great Wall of China’ in store.

Coffee lovers can also join the campaign by following Bagel Nash on Twitter and Facebook, using the hashtag #uglymugs and send photos of themselves and their ugly mugs. The Bagel Nash team will then pick out the best each week for a chance to win a £10 voucher to use in store.

Sara Hildreth, retail operations director at Bagel Nash said: “We’re proud to be independently owned and are passionate about providing customers with good quality, fresh and convenient food and offering them a coffee that rivals other high street chains.

“We thought the Ugly Mugs campaign was a good way to encourage people to pop in and try a cuppa for free. Most of us have old forgotten mugs at the back of our cupboards at home and at work, so this is a great way to have a clean out and get a free cup of coffee in the process.”

The independent company produces bagels from scratch at its own bakery, exporting 21million bagels a year all around the world and to its 15 stores located in cities such as Derby, Leeds and Manchester.

It prides itself on the quality of its fresh coffee after spending years researching and perfecting the taste of their Rainforest Alliance coffee.

Sara is keen to stress, it’s not just about the bagels: ”Our Nottingham store has had a revamp to give it a cosy coffee shop feel. We want to encourage customers to join us for their early morning cuppa and breakfast bagel right through to giving them a place to meet friends for a catch up over a cappuccino,

“Our aim is to offer a haven in the city centre for all those wanting fresh and convinient food and a decent, quality cup of coffee.”
