A leading developer, with a reputation for creating quality homes, has acquired land in the Merthyr Tydfil village of Abercanid.

Elan Homes hope to build 15 appealing three and four-bedroom properties on an undeveloped 1.4 acre plot in the area, as part of the first phase.

The company, which has developments throughout the country, wants to create an intimate collection of traditional homes with contemporary features, which will appeal to families and young professionals alike.

The team, which has a wealth of experience, is about to submit a detailed planning application to Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.

Andrea Nippe, sales director for Elan in the South, said: “We very much hope to be part of the area, bringing our unique blend of homes which would provide an opportunity for local people to buy a brand new property.

“This rural village, close to the Brecon Beacons, is a commuter’s dream and we know it would also attract families who want to invest and become an integral part of the community.

“Within easy reach of Cardiff, with a wealth of attractions for families to take advantage of, we are confident, if we are successful, the development would be a real asset to Abercanaid.”

If planning permission is granted, for eight three-bedroom homes and seven four-bedroom properties, it is hoped construction would begin in the spring of 2015.
