Nisbet Plantation Beach Club is tapping into the interest in family history inspired by programmes such as Who Do You Think You Are? by inviting people with the surname Nisbet to meet this autumn at the boutique resort on the small Caribbean island of Nevis.

Anyone with the name Nisbet or its many variations such as Nisbett, Nesbitt, Nesbett, Nesbit, Nisbit, Nisbitt and Nessbitt will receive a 10 per cent discount on a stay at the intimate resort between 11 October and 15 November 2014.

The resort is also laying on special extras such as a talk from the Nevis Historical Society to share the Nisbet family history on the island, a cocktail reception exclusively for Nisbets, a commemorative photograph from the cocktail party, the chance to share family memories with other Nisbets around a bonfire on the beach and a special keepsake made on the island.

Nisbet Plantation has partnered with Ancestry.com to offer three families the chance to win a year’s World Explorer Plus Membership and a copy of the Family Tree Maker software.

Nisbet Plantation itself has a fascinating history dating back to the 18th century. Once a prominent sugar plantation turned coconut plantation, Nisbet Plantation was the family home of Fanny Nisbet who met and married one of Britain’s most heroic figures, Admiral Lord Nelson, on the island in 1787.

The estate changed owners and purposes over time, each with stories of their own. And the link with the Nisbet family name continues with five Nisbetts working at the resort today.

Nisbet Plantation is an intimate resort that retains its old world charm. It has just 36 rooms set in 30 acres of gardens and is the only historic plantation inn in the Caribbean to be set directly on the beach. The resort’s history is still evident with the historic Great House now housing a cocktail bar and award winning fine dining restaurant while traditional afternoon tea is served daily on the Great House patio. Elsewhere in the grounds guests can see the remains of a sugar mill and the original bread ovens.

Room rates start from US$415 per night for two adults sharing a Superior Room with breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner. BA offers flights to St Kitts which is a short water taxi ride away from Nevis. Alternatively holidaymakers can fly with BA or Virgin Atlantic to Antigua and take a short flight to Nevis.

Due to the exclusivity of this offer, bookings can only be made directly with Nisbet Plantation, email reservations[at]nisbetplantation.com.
