Children’s boutique discount fashion store, Chunk, has opened its first ever pop-up store in Nottingham City Centre.

Situated next door to Whittard at No.1 Bridlesmith Gate and open until 11 January 2015, Chunk is the brainchild of Frances Bishop and Rachel Mawby, and offers mums a boutique shopping experience and product range without the associated high costs.

The 900 sq ft Chunk pop-up store will stock designer children’s clothes for little ‘chunks’ aged from 0-10 years old, offering last season’s collections from the likes of Harrods, Selfridges and French Connection. The ranges will be discounted in store by up to 80 per cent.

“We chose Nottingham for the pop up store, as the business was born here and the brand is well known, and we have received quite a bit of pressure on our social media channels to do something in the city during the run up to Christmas,” explains Frances.

Chunk, which also has permanent stores in Radcliffe on Trent and Epworth Doncaster, began life in Nottinghamshire at the start of 2014 after the owners saw the gap in the market, as Frances explains:

“We want clothes shopping for little ones to be a fun and exciting experience - and one that doesn't cost the earth and offers great customer service, prices and quality. We have also created an environment where the children can have a say in what they wear, whilst making it as easy as possible for mums and dads to shop.”

Nottingham City Centre’s retail rates would not usually have been suitable for Chunk’s business model, but the retail brand was helped by FHP’s director of retail & leisure, Ben Tebbutt to negotiate rates for the Christmas and New Year pop-up store.
