Value of village living at the Vale

Homebuyers are typically attracted to the country lifestyle, fresh air, privacy and proximity to nature associated with village living. However, living in a village also offers more space for families at better value for money, according to Savills – with prime rural properties on average 98.5% bigger than those in city or town locations and 25.8% cheaper . For those in search of a spacious home in a rural village location, luxury housebuilder, Millwood Designer Homes is offering a variety of homes at The Vale in the picturesque Kent village of Southfleet.

The Vale is a period style development of 32 houses, which will comprise of a mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached homes and the conversion of an oast house into a pair of semi-detached homes. The development backs on to open fields, and is situated within a laid back village, perfect for those looking to escape a busy city lifestyle and enjoy all that the village has to offer with open countryside close at hand.

Southfleet has fantastic local amenities including a fully stocked farm shop that has been running for 25 years, selling fresh home grown and local produce throughout the year. There are two popular village pubs that are also close to the development, The Ship Inn is within walking distance, has a beer garden and serves excellent food. The Manor Farm Barn is an 18th century converted barn which forms part of a larger garden centre and overlooks the village duck pond. Listed as a Grade I building, the St Nicholas C of E Church stands beautifully in the heart of the village.

The Vale has been designed by Millwood to reflect the local vernacular, and sit comfortably in its surroundings; complimenting and enhancing the village. Reclaimed materials have been used for many of the houses with weather boarding, dormer windows and brick built chimney stacks, to give the development the appearance of a quintessential Kentish village.

Philip Brown, Sales Director at Millwood Designer Homes, comments: “After the sales success of fellow Kent village development, Orchard Gate, it is clear that there is a strong demand for homes in the countryside. With such good connections to the city, The Vale really is a development that offers the best of both worlds. The development is due for completion in the summer of this year and we are advising those that missed out on a property at Orchard Gate to look to this development as a second chance to buy their dream home and embrace a picturesque village lifestyle.”

Due for completion in spring of this year, Plot 15 is a four bedroom family home at The Vale, which is laid out over three floors. Both the dining and living rooms are large and spacious with windows that offer plenty of light. To keep the family warm and cosy in the winter, the living room features a wood-burning stove, as well as a stone surround gas fire in the dining room. The grand open-plan kitchen, breakfast family room is the hub of the home, and includes bi-fold doors that open onto the rear garden and sleek fully integrated appliances.

The large central staircase and open landing creates a strong feature within the home, enhancing the light and open feel. The master bedroom is located on the first floor, featuring a separate dressing area and en suite, as well as two further bedrooms. The third bedroom is found on the second floor, along with the second bathroom and a multi-purpose room that could be used as a cinema room or extra bedroom for friends and family to stay in. The property is similar to the original show home at Orchard Gate, which won Highly Commended in the Best Family Home category at the Evening Standard Awards last year.

With a wealth of local amenities and vibrant neighbouring town of Dartford is just two miles away. Ebbsfleet International station is just 10 minutes by car, offering six trains an hour into Stratford and St Pancras in 20 minutes. There is also easy access to the A2 and M25, whilst keen shoppers can enjoy being just 10 minutes away by car from Bluewater shopping centre, with its large number of retail outlets, cinemas, bars and restaurants.

Prices at The Vale start at £535,000 for a three bedroom semi-detached home. Plot 15 is currently on the market for £815,000. For more information, visit millwooddesignerhomes.co.uk. The marketing suite is open seven days per week.
