Solar power installations have surged in the UK over the past two years, driven by incentives and falling costs, according to Carbon Brief. Meanwhile the Energy Saving Trust estimates that the use of solar energy can reduce family’s energy bills by £65 a year. At Brunswick Square in Orpington, Kent by Berkeley, solar panels actively reduce service charge costs for residents.

This exciting new development comprising one and two bedroom apartments, also uses Combined Heat and Power (CHP) engines, which produces both heat and electricity for the apartments at a low-carbon level. Some of the homes also offer smart meters, while the electric car charging points in selected car park spaces, ensure maximum sustainability and lower costs for residents.

Karrina Oki, Sales & Marketing Director of Berkeley Homes, comments: “Being energy efficient is now a key part of modern living. The solar panels integrated into the development increases sustainability and provides renewable energy. The smart meters also make for more accurate electricity readings, ensuring residents have greater control over their energy consumption. The energy efficient measures incorporated in Brunswick Square are a great example of how Berkeley utilises modern technology to stay ‘green’ while offering the best service for residents.”
