Your winter activewear wishlist for 2016/17

7th December 2016 Print

Just because the cold weather has arrived doesn’t mean you have to pack your gym kit or your running trainers away and retire to the sofa. Instead, your winter activewear wishlist just needs a bit of an update.  The following items will ensure that your gym kit is winter ready.

Windblocker jacket

A high tech jacket that is water resistant and wind proof will ensure the biting cold doesn’t get at you.  Be sure to pick one that has reflective details and is a bright colour for when you’re running in the dark in the evening or early morning.

Cowl neck hoodie

This is the perfect runner’s hoodie, as it doubles up as a scarf with the collar zipped up and is perfect for keeping snug while pounding the pavement during the winter months. Wear it beneath that windblocker jacket on particularly cold or wet days. We love this design from Superdry - in fact, the whole range of women’s sport clothes from Superdry is a great place to start your search for items to add to your winter activewear wishlist.

Thick leggings

Your legs are the ones doing the hardwork while exercise, so you want to make sure they’re comfortable and warm with a pair of thicker leggings. A cotton material is a warmer option but isn’t great when it comes to sweat, so look for leggings that are made using moisture wicking fabric to ensure moisture doesn’t accumulate and make you feel cold. A wide waistband is an added bonus to ensure hips are kept extra warm. Be sure to tuck the legs into thick socks to ensure no cold gets in!

Thermal gloves

Hands tend to feel the cold first and foremost, so thermal gloves are great for those exercising outside in the winter months. They’re not bulky so you can easily grab your phone to check your progress or change the track.  Sweat wicking fabric in high-vis colours will eliminate the chill and help you stand out even more in the dark.

Thick hat or headband

Keep those ears warm with a snug beanie or a knitted headband if you don’t want to cover your whole head.  They’re also great for ensuring earphones stay in place!

Add these items to your winter activewear wishlist and be prepared for the cold season so you can keep your motivation.
