Bellway starts work at Hawksview
Bellway has started work on a new development of homes in Hawkhurst which will breathe new life into a disused former hotel site.
Hawksview is being built on the site of Woodham Hall, on Rye Road, and will feature a selection of 16 new homes including two, three and four-bedroom properties.
The new homes will replace the hotel building, which has fallen into a state of poor repair, and its gardens, which include a disused tennis court.
part of the planning agreement for the site, Bellway will contribute £100,000 towards the provision of off-site affordable housing.
Head of Sales for Bellway Kent, Mark Harrop, said Bellway was looking forward to turning the site into an asset for the local community.
He said: “We’re thrilled to be getting started at Hawksview and construction is progressing well.
“It is rare to have the opportunity to develop a brownfield site in such a prime location. We are looking to seeing a new community take shape there.
“Hawksview will be a small development, but with a good range of homes on offer. The smaller homes will be ideal for first-time buyers, while there will also be homes suitable for growing families and people looking to downsize to a modern home.
“We have already been receiving enquiries about the homes at Hawksview from local people and othere looking to move to the area. We look forward to welcoming our first visitors early next year.”
A sales centre will open at Hawksview early in 2018.
Bellway was confirmed as one of the country’s best new homes developers earlier this year, securing five-star status from the Home Builders Federation (HBF). The award is the most sought-after accolade in the industry and is based solely on feedback from customers.
