A generous donation of £1,000 has helped to give over 100 visually impaired children a special day out.

LTI Vehicles, manufacturer of the world famous London taxi, has donated the money towards this year’s Liverpool Blind Children’s Committee Outing. The event is also supported by Taxifix, Liverpool’s main dealer for LTI Vehicles.

The annual charity outing sees more than 50 black cab drivers across Liverpool decorate their vehicles before calling at the Royal School for the Blind and St. Vincent’s School for the Blind and Partially Sighted. This year’s event took place on Wednesday July 2, 2008. Youngsters were driven in convey to Southport’s Pleasureland where they enjoyed entertainment, presents and a best dressed taxi competition, before being taken home.

“We are extremely grateful to LTI Vehicles, Taxifix and local drivers for actively supporting the outing. Without them events like these wouldn’t take place. Thanks must also go to Merseyside Police for their efforts on the day,” said Phill Carpenter, a long-term member of the outing committee. “This year another superb outing was organised that brings so much joy and happiness to the children and families involved.”

Rob Laidler, LTI Vehicles’ Sales Director said: “LTI is extremely proud to support such a rewarding charity that is organised and managed by people in our industry. Alongside Taxifix we are delighted to be a part of its continued success.”
