Royal Mail appoints Manheim Auctions
Royal Mail has installed Manheim Auctions, Washington as one of its regional de-fleet auction centres covering the North East and Scotland. The decision was made after a trial of the defleet process culminating in a very successful auction.

Manheim’s specialist commercial vehicle team at its Washington auction centre will arrange the collection of vans directly from Royal Mail locations in the North of England and Scotland and deliver them back to Washington. Here they are inspected by Royal Mail’s team of dedicated end-of-contract inspectors. Once released the vans are then prepared, marketed and entered into the next Royal Mail auction.

Annessa Lehane, Royal Mail’s National Vehicle Sales Manager said: “Manheim has demonstrated its commitment to the commercial vehicle market and its ability and flexibility to meet Royal Mail’s requirements. This additional regional de-fleet centre will result in a more efficient de-fleet management operation plus both organisations will benefit from a new Royal Mail auction programme at Washington”.

Alex Wright, Sales Director, Commercial Vehicles at Manheim Auctions, added: “I am delighted that we are again able to work in partnership with Royal Mail and assist with its national de-fleet strategy. Manheim has conducted successful auctions for Royal Mail for many years and the appointment of Manheim Auctions, Washington as a regional de-fleet centre further strengthens our relationship. Washington now joins Gloucester, Haydock and Colchester in delivering this specific de-fleet service. This news comes on the back of Washington winning a solus deal for the North East Purchasing Organisation. The entire team at Washington is as committed as ever to delivering the goods and I pass on my congratulations and thanks to them for their continued efforts. Manheim is uniquely structured in our industry with dedicated, specialist commercial vehicles teams throughout the auction network. The success of this strategy is reflected in the continued growth of our seven CV centres.”
