LTI Vehicles’ purpose-built and world famous London Taxi will take pride of place at this year’s Regent Street Festival 2008: A Great British Experience.

Held on Sunday 7th September the festival is themed around all things quintessentially British and is one of the biggest annual international free, outdoor events listed on the London calendar.

Universally recognised and hailed by millions of UK passengers and international tourists each and every year, the London Taxi is an iconic symbol of London and an integral part of the world’s best taxi system.

Visitors to the festival will be able to view the current incarnation of the black cab – the TX4 – alongside an Austin 6 taxi supplied by the London Vintage Taxi Association. A tombola with black cab merchandise as prizes will also feature as LTI Vehicles raise money for their chosen charities, the London Taxi Fund for Underprivileged Children and the Children’s Magical Taxi Tour.

“We are happy to be supporting the Regent Street Festival and look forward to welcoming people from all over the world,” said Rob Laidler, Sales Director at LTI Vehicles. “We’ve also been asked to provide a London Taxi for a short film titled ‘Regent Street’, which has been made by British filmmaker William Archer and will be shown at the Apple store on the day of the festival and at festivals around the world thereafter. This news serves to only further strengthen our argument that when activities like these take place the London Taxi is the perfect icon.”

Annie Walker, Director at Regent Street Association Ltd, said: “The London Taxi is a fantastic representation of Britain and is recognised worldwide. We’re delighted to have a vintage taxi and the latest TX4 model on display for everyone to see.”

The Regent Street Festival 2008: A Great British Experience takes place in London W1 on Sunday 7 September 2008. Regent Street will be closed to traffic from 12 noon to 8pm to welcome an expected footfall of over 600,000.
