Manheim reports third consecutive month of van price increases
Manheim’s latest monthly Market Analysis reports that, at £2,823, the average wholesale used van sale price was up 3.6% (£99) in March compared with February and is the third consecutive increase in average wholesale used van prices. However, when compared with March 2008 average wholesale used van prices were still down by 20.8% (£743), average age was two months higher at 54 months and average mileage was 3,016 miles lower at 69,799.
Examples of the increases in average month-on-month values in March included Car Vans which rose by 12.6% (£228); Car Derived Vans which rose by 3.0% (£57); Large Panel Vans > 3.0t which rose by 7.7% (£210) and 4x4s which increased by 10.6% (£500). In contrast the average month-on-month values for Small Panel Vans fell by 6.6% (£219) following an increase of 6.7% (£210) in February and Large Panel Vans < 3.0t fell by 10.4% (£303) following an increase of 9.4% (£251) the previous month.
Commenting on the March report, Alex Wright, Sales Director, Commercial Vehicles, Manheim Auctions said: “The outlook for the used van market remains positive as historically used van sales have proven to be more stable through periods of economic uncertainty than cars. Any further reductions in supply look likely to keep values and conversion rates stable.”
