Vehicle scrappage scheme not a hit with van man

9th June 2009 Print

In a snap reaction poll by Budget Van Insurance, less than half of those eligible for the recently launched vehicle scrappage scheme said that they were considering taking up the offer in spite of over 35,000 new vehicle orders being placed nationwide since the scheme launched.

However, this figure is still a 25% drop on new vehicle registrations compared to the same period last year. The majority of those who took part in the poll did not believe that the scheme would help to kick start the British motor industry.

Mnveer Arkan, Head of Marketing, Budget Van Insurance said, "Whilst the vehicle scrappage scheme is a welcome boost for motorists, it's proving insufficient to help Britain's small business owners who are having to keep a tight rein on their finances at the moment."
