moneysupermarket.com: launch of O2 Broadband

9th October 2007 Print
Commenting on the launch of O2 Broadband, Jason Lloyd, head of broadband, moneysupermarket.com said: “O2's entry into the market is a welcome one and its clear O2 have done their research and listened to what broadband customers want.

“As a late entrant into the home broadband market, the range of products are competitively priced and easy to understand. O2 has also avoided bundled products, a clever move as these packages often confuse customers.

“O2’s fair pricing policy, only offering people the product they can get the speed for, is not just a marketing gimmick. Research from moneysupermarket.com shows four in 10 people (44 per cent) barely get half the speed they have signed up for. Pricing its products this way will prove popular amongst customers who often do not get the speeds they are paying for.

“Every product also comes with a free wireless router and O2 mobile users will be offered 100 free texts a month which can be sent from their PC. In addition, customer and technical support lines will be free, a rarity in the broadband market where broadband users can often pay up to 50p a minute to call these lines.

"At present there seems to be little wrong with the product range and I expect its products will gain a very high level of interest amongst customers. It will be very difficult for a competitor to leverage an advantage against these new products because they seem to cover all the bases so effectively."
