Economic recession impacts broadband ISP migration
The results of ISPreview.co.uk's most recent survey, which asked UK Internet users whether the difficult economic climate had caused them to be more or less likely to switch to a cheaper broadband provider, reveals that nearly one quarter (24 per cent) were more likely to migrate than before the problems began and just over 11 per cent had already switched because of it.However over 60 per cent said they were staying put and had no plans to migrate.
Mark Jackson, ISPreview.co.uk’s Editor-in-Chief, said: "It's clear from this study that consumers are becoming increasingly protective of the money they have, with uncertainty over jobs, banks and investments fuelling a defensive attitude towards spending. Naturally many are now actively seeking the cheapest broadband deal they can lay their hands, potentially saving a few pounds, albeit occasionally at the sacrifice of service quality."
Market conscious ISPs would do well to capitalise on the situation by offering special promotions designed to attract new customers from their rivals, with a focus on affordability.
