uSwitch.com: Virgin Media's tie up with Setanta replay

19th January 2009 Print
Jason Glynn, communications expert at uSwitch.com, says: "Virgin Media's move to offer sport on demand for its 3.5 million TV customers through Setanta Replay can only be a good thing for consumers. It further highlights the growth and popularity of on demand services giving people greater flexibility around when they want to watch their favourite sporting events so they don't miss out.

"While this further strengthens Virgin's on demand service consumers need to be aware that there are other fantastic offers out there too. With the ongoing digital switch over, due to be complete for 2012, there has never been a better time to take a Digital TV service.

"But consumers need to weigh up the best option for their needs, while the Setanta Replay package offers sports events two days after the event, but for seven days, Sky's alternative "Football First" is available immediately on a Saturday evening after that afternoon's games, but is not available on demand. Virgin's package is also only available for customers living in a cable area, which is just 60% of the UK."
