moneysupermarket.com: Brits turned off by movies

Commenting on a survey out today from BT on subscription movie viewing habits, James Parker, broadband manager at moneysupermarket.com said: "The survey from BT shows a significant amount of people are paying for movie channels, standalone or with a bundle, that they never use. Bundled packages are a great way to cut down your monthly bills - for broadband, phone and TV - but adding a subscription movie channel to your package can really drive up the cost. People need to be sure they're using these services or it is money down the drain.

"As an alternative to subscription channels there are a range of services out there including On Demand (ODTV) and online DVD rental stores. If you have broadband, another option is to download movies from sites such as 4 On Demand or Lovefilm - where rental fees costs as little as 79p per film.

"People need to be sure they'll use a subscription service before they commit to paying for it. Bundles are a great way to save, yet a study by moneysupermarket.com revealed over two-thirds (70 per cent) of adults don't use the same provider for their home entertainment services. Considering the amount of people with film channels; I'm surprised more people aren't shouting ‘show me the money!'"
