Norah Jones - Thinking About You

4th January 2007 Print
Norah Jones Singer-songwriter-pianist Norah Jones returns with the sweetly soulful, Wurlitzer-vibed ‘Thinking About You’, the first single to be taken from her new album ‘Not Too Late’.

27 year-old Norah Jones first found fame with her 2002 debut album ‘Come Away With Me’, a record which, despite modest expectations, grew into a phenomenon, reaching multi-platinum status in less than a year, establishing her as an international touring artist, and sweeping the 2003 Grammy Awards with eight wins including Best Album, Best Record, Best Song, and Best New Artist.

Norah returned in February 2004 with ‘Feels Like Home’, another engaging and heartfelt album that - like her first - was the perfect blend of originals written by Jones and her band-mates and well chosen covers. ‘Feels Like Home’ proved that Norah’s success was no fluke, debuting at No.1 in the UK and US charts, garnering rave reviews, winning a Grammy and selling over 10 million copies worldwide.

On January 29th 2007, Norah Jones will release her third and most personal statement to date. Recorded in her home studio in New York, ‘Not Too Late’ is a collection of 13 original songs either written or co-written by Norah, which was co-produced by Lee Alexander, her longtime songwriting partner and bass player. 11 of 13 songs on Not Too Late are Norah’s creations, half of which were helped towards completion by Lee. The two exceptions are ‘Thinking About You’, which Norah co-wrote with Wax Poetic bandleader Ilhan Ersahin, and the Kurt Weill-esque ‘Sinkin’ Soon,’ which was co-written by Norah and features vocal contributions from singer-songwriter M. Ward.

Most importantly these songs present a much more complete picture of Norah herself, her personality, her humour, her mind. As a performer she has reached a new level of confidence after what she jokingly refers to as her “awkward phase,” and as an increasingly astute songwriter she delves more directly into the world around her, from the darkly comic ‘My Dear Country’ to the poignantly uplifting closing song which reassures us that “it’s not too late for love.”

Many of the musicians on Not Too Late will be familiar to Norah’s fans, including guitarists Jesse Harris, Adam Levy, Robbie McIntosh and Kevin Breit, drummer Andy Borger, and singer Daru Oda, but many special guests lend their talents as well, from M. Ward to jazz organist Larry Goldings to Kronos Quartet cellist Jeff Ziegler.

The new single is released 22nd January 2007 on Blue Note Records. Norah Jones ‘Not Too Late’, the new album is released 29th January 2007.
