Tamzin Outhwaite Is Vital Viewing

Vital Signs premiered last year on ITV1, but for those of you who didn’t experience this uplifting drama the first time round, the entire show is available to purchase on DVD from January 15th.
Rhoda Bradley is a supermarket checkout assistant with three children and a hectic home life. Frustrated by her job, Rhoda feels she is sitting on a long, slow conveyor belt watching the world go by. She is desperate to jump off and do something worthwhile with her life before it’s too late.
An emergency dash to hospital with her daughter leads Rhoda to make the life-changing move she has been looking for. After talking to a mature medical student attending her daughter, Rhoda realises she wants to train to be a doctor.
But how will this dramatic life change affect those closest to her? Husband and childhood sweetheart Tony (Steve Waddington) agrees to support his wife but secretly fears that their life will never be the same again. And Rhoda’s sister Maddy (Beth Goddard), a hospital nurse, is furious with her for trying to upstage her.
As Rhoda progresses through the transition she faces the demands of juggling her studies, a part-time job and full-time motherhood. As well as irritable customers, she now has to face difficult doctors, irascible patients and the odd corpse.
