American Idol Reaches All Time High

Simon Fuller, creator of American Idol, today celebrated news of more record-breaking figures for the hit series. Just a few days after securing the biggest deal in sporting history for David Beckham, the sixth series of the Fuller created show opened last night on Fox TV in America to an all time high debut of 37.3 million viewers peaking at 41.5 million. This is an increase of 6% on the previous record held.

Fuller, who is currently on holiday in Brazil, toasted the show’s success saying: “American Idol continues to make entertainment history. Not only is it the biggest show in America but it is also now the most popular format in the world.”

“These amazing numbers from our season 6 premiere continue to defy all reasonable expectation. It just keeps growing.”

American Idol begins in the UK on ITV 2 this Friday, January 19th at 8.30pm.
