Neil Young: Live At Massey Hall

25th January 2007 Print
Neil Young will release Live At Massey Hall, a recording of a classic show performed in Toronto in 1971, on March 12th on Reprise. Live At Massey Hall is the second release in Neil Young's Archive Performance Series following 2006's Live At The Fillmore.

The Massey Hall set saw Neil Young perform a solo show that featured legendary tracks such as Down By The River and Ohio as well as Needle and The Damage Done and Heart of Gold - both exclusive previews of tracks from his then upcoming and previously unheard album Harvest.

Live At Massey Hall will be available on CD only and CD/DVD formats. The tracklisting is:

On The Way Home
Tell Me Why
Old Man
Journey Through The Past
Helpless
Love in Mind
A Man Needs A Maid/Heart of Gold Suite
Cowgirl in the Sand
Don't Let It Bring You Down
There's A World
Bad Fog of Loneliness
The Needle and the Damage Done
Ohio
See the Sky About to Rain
Down By The River
Dance Dance Dance
I Am A Child

The accompanying DVD features footage of the above minus three tracks that weren't recorded which will be included as audio versions only.

"This is the album that should have come out between After The Gold Rush and Harvest," Young says now. "David Briggs, my producer, was adamant that this should be the record, but I was very excited about the takes we got on Harvest, and wanted Harvest out. David disagreed. As I listen to this today, I can see why."

An 8 CD / 2 DVD set entitled Archives Volume 1, an audiobiography that features a treasure chest of rare studio and live recordings, will be released this autumn, chronicling Neil Young's career between 1963 and 1972.
