Snow Patrol Single To Benefit Save The Children

Snow Patrol will donate a percentage of the royalties generated by the single to Save the Children’s Rewrite the Future campaign and Polydor have agreed to match the donation. “Open Your Eyes” will be featured in the first episode of the new series of ER.
Save the Children’s Rewrite the Future campaign aims to provide quality education for 8 million children in areas around the world affected by war and conflict.
Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol said, “We have been supporting Save the Children’s Rewrite the Future campaign since it launched last year. Over 40 million children living with the effects of conflict can't go to school. Yet education is the very thing that could keep them safe, give them and their countries hope, and transform their lives. The donation from this single will help but it is also about putting pressure on governments to open their eyes and their pockets and provide enough funding to make sure all children get a chance to go to school. “
Ben Hewitt of Save the Children added “Having Britain’s biggest selling band, Snow Patrol, supporting one of Save the Children’s key campaigns keeps the issue alive. We need to keep the momentum generated by Make Poverty History. By helping children now we set them up for the future.”
Later on this year Snow Patrol will be visiting some of Save the Children’s work in Africa to see how their support has benefited the charity.
Snow Patrol will also be performing at the BRIT awards on 14th February and are nominated in 3 categories for Best British Group, Mastercard British Album for “eyes open” and British Single short-list for “chasing cars”.
