Spicy Chick Lit: Good Girls Shouldn’t
As a student, Nina Nayak, hip and trendy, enthusiastically indulged in clubbing, drinking and staying out late. Post-graduation and back at home, her freedom is dramatically curtailed and she finds living with her traditionally-minded parents somewhat of a culture shock. Not only is it much harder for Nina to disguise and nurse her hangovers in private but she can’t even have her hair cut without incurring their wrath. The great East v. West debate is triggered yet again at the slightest provocation and poor Nina is regularly accused of ignoring her culture and favouring western pleasures.
In the meantime, she and Ally, her best friend, continue to party in secret, going to great lengths to avoid detection from their strict parents. The added complications of boyfriends, covering up for each other and near disasters is highly entertaining.
Author, Veena S Halai lives in London and is working on her second novel.
