Ideal: Johnny Vegas

19th February 2007 Print
Johnny Vegas Funny man Johnny Vegas returns as everybody’s favourite drug dealer for a second series of the hilarious comedy. The life of a dealer can be complicated. As well as being the local ‘supplier’ Moz (Johnny Vegas) acts as relationship counsellor, detective and all round shoulder to cry on. But he’s not without his own problems.

Long-term girlfriend Nicki is about to give birth but the father could be any one of three men. Is Moz really about to become a dad for the first time and if so, will imminent parenthood force him to rethink his choice of career? His days as a dealer may already be numbered as the local copper, and Moz’s chief dope supplier, is in line for a promotion which will cut off Moz’s supply.

To make matters worse, gangster and regular client, Psycho Paul, is keen to involve Moz in a get-rich-quick kidnapping scheme and he won’t take no for an answer. Meanwhile, events take a sinister turn for the worse when the body of Craig, murdered by masked hitman Cartoon Head, turns up in the local chip shop’s deep fat fryer.

And there’s a new neighbour called Judith who has designs on Moz’s body – dead or alive.

Set entirely in Moz’s Manchester flat, this depiction of a dark world of sex and drugs is witty, provocative and brilliantly inventive and Series 2 is funnier and quirkier than ever.

This BBC/Baby Cow co-production was written by Graham Duff and Tony Burgess, produced by Ted Dowd, with Executive Producers Henry Normal and Kenton Allen.

An abundance of brilliant DVD extras include the 2005 Christmas special, audio commentaries on 4 episodes with Johnny Vegas, Joanna Neary and Graham Duff, an Ideal trip with side effects, Joanna Neary’s video diary, out-takes, extended and deleted scenes.
