It’s Puppy Love For McFly!

28th February 2007 Print
McFly Danny, Dougie, Tom and Harry are very cute and cuddly – and all the girls love them. But these four handsome youngsters aren’t the familiar stars from the hugely successful British band McFly. Instead, they’re from a litter of guide dog puppies that have just met their famous namesakes for the first time.

The Golden Retriever pups, Dougie, Danny, Tom and Harry – who are just over three months old – made a special trip to London to catch up with the band who are promoting their forthcoming single Transylvania, which is taken from their Gold album “Motion In The Ocean” and is due for release on 23rd April.

Says Tom from McFly: “I love dogs, and so it’s just awesome to have a litter of guide dog pups named after our band! These puppies will one day make a huge difference to the lives of people with sight loss, and I’m really proud to be following them on that journey.”

McFly will follow the progress of the pups on their journey to become qualified guide dogs, as part of their new role as Guiding Stars for the famous Guide Dogs charity. As Guiding Stars, the band members will also help the charity to educate young people about the important work of guide dogs.

Over 1,000 guide dog puppies just like Danny, Dougie, Tom, Harry and their littermates are born every year. There are currently 4,700 working guide dogs in the UK, and since guide dog training began in this country 75 years ago, over 25,000 of these special dogs have provided a life-transforming level of independence and freedom to their blind or partially sighted owners.
