Award-winning comedian, writer, director and producer Armando Iannucci (The Day Today, I’m Alan Partridge) delivers a unique satire on the world of politics, starring Chris Langham (Help; People Like Us) and Peter Capaldi (The Crow Road). The Thick of It Series 1, 2 and the 2006 Christmas Special will be available to buy together on DVD from BBC DVD on April 2nd 2007.

A brilliant comedy set in and around the world of Westminster politics, The Thick of It follows the career of Hugh Abbot (Langham), a put-upon MP continually harrassed by Number 10’s policy enforcer (Capaldi) and dependent on his not-so-reliable team of civil servants. The corridors of power and spin are accurately brought to life in award-winning style, as the cast improvise around scripts written by some of the sharpest British comedy writers, making this compulsive, hilarious and often painful viewing.

This critically acclaimed series has received a number of prestigious awards including two BAFTAs at the 2006 Awards for Best Actor and Best Situation Comedy, plus the 2006 Royal Television Society Award for Best Situation Comedy and British Comedy Awards for Best New TV Comedy & Best Actor in 2005.

Each series contains three thirty minute episodes and this DVD set includes all six episodes from Series 1 and Series 2, plus the 2006 Christmas Special and a number of extras including cast and crew commentaries, 30 minutes of bonus/deleted scenes, Script to Screen Guide with Armando Iannucci and a photo gallery.
