American Idol - The Grand Finale
Almost a year ago preparations were being made to scour every corner of America in search of the raw talent that could be prepared, polished and perfected to have a chance to be celebrated as the sixth American Idol. Months later and that time has now come. From over a million contestants who applied to appear on the show, the total has been reduced to just two. But only one can win the show, so on the 25th May on ITV2, American Idol 6 will announce who will be crowned the sixth American Idol.
This year has seen the largest number of applicants, the record number of votes cast and the highest viewing figures in the show’s history. Idol Gives Back raised over $70 million dollars and the series has seen more guest appearances than ever before. Left in the competition at the moment are Melinda, Blake, Jordin and Lakisha (see below for a brief biog and a link to their homepages) who are just 2 weeks away from the final.
American Idol 6 has now reached fever pitch and has viewers on both sides of the Atlantic on the edge of their seats. At the Kodak theatre in LA, each finalist will sing a collection of songs in this musical extravaganza. They must to really show off all their strengths (and hide their weaknesses) in the knowledge that just a single mistake could cost them the title. The pressure will reach boiling point and you will be able to cut the atmosphere with a knife.
After the performances Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul will give their comments for the last time and make an appraisal of the finalists. And then we wait…
We wait for the public to cast their vote and decide the fates of the two final hopefuls. Who will it be? Tune in on Friday at 8.30 on ITV2 to find out who will be crowned in glory as the next American Idol.
The contestants are:
Jordin Sparks
Jordin, the youngest in the competition at only seventeen, made the final twelve despite Simon Cowell’s criticisms that she was “being too cute” early on in the audition process. Her personal goal in life is to tell meaningful stories through her songs which touch peoples lives.

Blake Lewis
